Blessings in Juneau, Alaska!
Today is the final day of our two weeks in Juneau, Alaska. Nancy, Emily and I had the blessing of visiting the folk at Northland Bible Church who are planting a new church. What a thrill is was to preach, visit, and encourage these folk! Believe it or not, it stayed between 20-45 degrees while were here. I guess we had to come to Alaska to miss the big snow storm and bitter cold! It is beautiful here to see the ocean, mountains, and glaciers. But the biggest blessing of the week, was the privilege of leading a 75 year old man to the Lord!
Great is the Lord and Greatly to be Praised!
Nancy and I have so much for which to praise the Lord as we begin this new phase of our life and ministry. It has been with mixed emotion, yet great confidence in the Lord and His leading that I resigned the pastorate of nine years at Marquette Manor Baptist Church to accept God’s call to serve with Baptist World Mission.
Friends at MMBC - "I thank my God upon every remembrance of you."
On my final Sunday at Marquette I preached from Philippians 1, in part on Paul's thanksfulness for the church at Philippi. That certainly reflects our heart for our church family at Marquette. As we begin our missionary travels I have many times experienced Paul's expression in Philippians 1:3 - "I thank my God upon every remembrance of you."
The following note was printed in the church bulletin, but in case someone missed it and just for the record I want to post it here.
"Brethren, Pray for Us"
As we begin our new ministry we are reminded of the need of prayer and the need for the presence and power of our Savior to enable us in our service for Him. And so, we ask you as Paul did the Thessalonicans, "Brethren, pray for us." ( I Thess 5:25).
Pray for Laborers!
Our Savior reveals His heart and burden in Matthew 9:36-38. "The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few. Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into His harvest."
We just finished with the BWM annual meeting hosted by Grace Baptist Church, Muncie, Indiana, Pastor Collins Glenn. What a wonderful job this dear church did in hosting the meeting! We enjoyed the sweetest of fellowship with missionaries, pastors, and friends.
July Prayer Letter & August Ministry
We just posted our July 2010 Prayer Letter. Those of you who have subscribed and therefore receive a notification of this message can be the first to read the new prayer letter on the website. Thanks so much for your faithful prayers! Next week we will be going to Ohio to be in a missions conference with Pastor Gil Morrow at Heritage Baptist Church in Englewood. Pray for the Lord's blessings in these meetings. Also, Jennifer starts her teaching ministry at Bethel Baptist School in Hartselle, AL Thursday, August 5th.
