TESTIMONY
I am very thankful to have been brought up in a Christian home and have the influence of godly, loving, Christian parents and a Bible believing church all my life. Although I made three professions of "salvation" as a child: once in Sunday School, once in Vacation Bible School, and once after an evening service, at the age of 14 I began to come under great conviction for my sin. By that age I had been in Junior High and desired to be accpted by the unsaved public school crowd. My true sinful nature began to reveal itself to the point that I could not hide my sinfulness. God's Spirit graciously but intensely convicted my heart of my sin to the point that when I lay in bed at night I was often under the fear of dying and going to the hell I knew I deserved. Having heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ since I was a child, I knew that I needed to acknowledge and repent of my sin (Romans 3:10, 23), believe on the finished work of Jesus Christ who died on Calvary's cross for my sin (Romans 5:6-8), receive God's free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ (Romans 6:23) by grace alone through faith (Ephesians 2:8,9), and call upon Jesus to be my Savior (Romans 10:9-13). I struggled for a long time with fears of what others would think, say, or do if I truly got saved. What would my parents think? They might say, "you've aready done that!" What would people at church think? I've aready made 3 professions of trusting Jesus. How could I admit that I was an insincere hypocrite? What would my friends at school think? No doubt they would laugh because of my changed life that would result from a genuine faith in Jesus Christ. Finally one night in the fall of 1972, under great conviction, I determined that I did not carre what anyone else might think. I needed to get this matter settled once and for all. Alone in my bed, I prayed and confessed my sin to Jesus, espressed my faith in His death on the cross, burial and resurrection for my sin, and asked Him to forgive my sin, come into my heart, and be my personal Savior. I believe He saved me form my sin and hell that night. How do I know? Based upon His promises in His Word.
Friend, perhaps you are wondering about your eternal soul. Where will you spend eternity? You too can trust Jesus Christ as your personal Savior by believing on the finished work of Jesus Christ and calling upon Him to save you from the penalty and power of sin. He will forgive you, cleanse you, and make you His child. If you trust Jesus as your Savior, I would love ot hear form you.
Praise the Lord for His wonderful grace and mercy to this sinner! By His grace I am now His child and His servant!
